But this one was just right...

Jona had the pleasure of playing on the set of the very talented Stylist, Vanessa Colyer Tay's photoshoot for kids chairs in Inside Out magazine Sept/Oct 2012 issue. He eventually settled in for a story on a yellow Acapulco kids chair. Good choice Jona! Here's more of these beauties -

And have you seen these chairs revealed at this years Salone del Mobile by Marni?  !!

Party hats - how to!

1. Choose some cardboard from the Newsagency or craft shop. I went with an A2 sized sheet to get some height in the hats.

2. Roll into a cone shape & trim edge that will sit on head into a circular shape.

3. Check measurement against head circumference of the average party hat wearer.

3. Secure on outside and inside too with sticky tape.

4.  Have the frills at the ready - some stickers, pom poms for the pinnacle and string to be able to tie up under the chin of the wearer.

5. Employ a Chief party Hat Decorator.

6. Let them loose. They may outsource some duties when gluing on pompoms and taping string to bottom of hats.

Ta da! Here are some party hats patiently awaiting their party duties..

Now, time to party!

Nixe

My 2 year old son is very much consumed by spiders, skeletons.. and mermaids. So I bought this little doll from the craft shop for him to play with. And with felt I stitched a tail together and cut out and glued on the some scales. She's gone down quite well in toy land, joining the pirates on their adventures to find treasure.

Pom Pom Blanket - How to:

We live in a tiny flat, so some sort of free standing cubby house is asking a bit much of the space available. Fortunately it's easy peasy to make your own with sheets and blankets draped over chairs or the clothes drying rack. Here's an idea I came up with the other day to make the cosy cave a little bit more fun.

 1. Pick up an Ikea 'Polarvide' for $2

 2. Select your pom poms

3. Adhere pom poms to blanket with glue, leave overnight to dry.

And play!

 Ta da!

Samoan Weaving workshop at Object Gallery

I was lucky enough to attend yet another workshop hosted by Object Gallery last week. This time Samoan weaving with the inspiring weaver Faleupolu aka Good Polu. What joy it is to learn new craft skills and working with new materials. Yay for Flax!
