Miss Tiny & Mr Big

Michele Morcos' massive three meter triptych, Trip The Light, (2012, Acrylic on Canvas) is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen! It was a commission piece for a local Sydney family who are so lucky to be able to see this everyday in their household. The colours, the shapes, the texture, the movement and gestures... you could stare at it all day and get lost in its beauty, so regenerating! See more of Michele's inspiration on her tiny blog.

Basket Weaving Workshop with Michele Morcos at Koskela

Oh what a lovely and civilised morning we had last week. Colour? Check. Inspiration? Check. Good company? Check. Yummy tea? Check. New skills learned? Check. A wonderful morning, wish I could rewind and do it all again. Thanks lovely tiny!

p.s  the last 6 shots are of Michele's completed work that she brought along to show us. They're so beautiful and for sale via here. The first picture is what I managed to produce in 2 hours... these little beauties do take a while to make.

POP UP SHOP ! ! !

You know my incredibly inspiring friend Michele aka tinytrappings? Of course you do, I do tend to go on about her a bit, because well, I love her and her amazing art and love to follow her creative adventures! And her latest one is that of a pop up art space on Sydney's lower North Shore. Michele and 7 other artists have taken over some derelict shop fronts in Crowsnest and turned them into places of wonder where the community can come in and be inspired and actively participate in some art and craft. There is lots more to see too but I have only focused on Michele here, because she is one one of my heroes.

So come on in...!

Michele in her cosy nook where she will be crafting away for the next few months. Pop in and say hello!

It's Biennale time

Love Biennale time... here we have works by Mit Jai Inn and Makinti Napanangka on display at the MCA Sydney.

Did I ever tell you that I was one lucky person to assist in the 2006 Biennale with placing these little guys? Me and my matey Tracy. What an inspiring time we had. She is one very inspiring person herself! Check out her blog here.

trip the light fantastic

These are paintings are by my gorgeous friend and incredibly talented Sydney-based artist Michele Morcos, aka tinytrappings. Her latest exhibition at Breathing Colours Gallery on Darling Street, Balmain showcases magic landscapes exploring themes of time and water and Michele's relationship with the land, notably in rural New South Wales, Australia. I can't express how much joy and delight I feel when I see the colourful oeuvre of Michele's but can only recommend you go and see it for yourself and enjoy the feeling too. The exhibition at Breathing Colours is on until 7th July 2012.

Garage Door Goodness

I've been a big fan of a wonderful artist's work for quite some time now, and that's Jane Gillings. Here are some photographs she took of 50s and 60s garage doors in the northern suburbs of Sydney. I love them so much and aspire to have one of my very own one day. Read more about this project of Jane's here.
